How many students get in to IITs

 How many seats are there in IITs in India?
There are close to 16,200 seats overall in 23 IITs in the country. These also include supernumerary seats for female candidates as well.
What is the eligibility for the IIT entrance exam?
The eligibility criteria for IIT entrance exam (JEE Advanced).
- The candidate should be among the top 2,50,000 candidates (all categories included) in JEE Main.
- A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.
- The candidate should have appeared/ passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
- The candidate should have scored at least 75% aggregate marks for general and OBC-NCL (or 65% aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD) candidates OR be in category-wise top 20 percentile in class XII. [This criteria gets relaxed in COVID-19 pandemic]
